2016年主要国首脳会議（サミット）が志摩市・賢島で開催されることになりました。
志摩市は、市の全域が伊勢志摩国立公園内にあり、古くから皇室や朝廷に食材を献納する国、という意味の「御食つ国（みけつくに ）」と呼ばれた、美しい自然と豊富な海の幸に恵まれた里海のまちです。会場となる賢島は、養殖真珠で知られる英虞（あご）湾に浮かぶ最大の島で宿泊施設やレジャー施設、真珠製品販売店などが点在しています。
G8 2016 (summit) is now to be held in Shima-Kashikojima.
